Welcome to the Temple Sinai Social Action Commitee web page! Our goal is to share our skills, our time, and our energy to work for social justice and gemilut hasadim (acts of loving kindness) for our neighbors who need help with food, clothing, shelter, and education.
Projects that we have done include:
- Hosting the Jewish Family Table Food Pantry and volunteering to sort, pack, and deliver food to needy families on the North Shore
- Boxes on the Bima – celebrating Shavuot, the grain harvest, by collecting boxes of cereal during the 7 weeks between Pesach and Shavuot
- Habitat for Humanity—painting houses and providing food for volunteers from out of state
- Collecting School Supplies for needy children
- Babysitting to raise funds for disaster relief
- Delivering warm winter clothing to area shelters
- Recycling mobile phones for battered women
- Serving meals at soup kitchens in Lynn
- Collecting Sox in a Box for homeless shelters
We strive to run a project every month or two.
